Birthdays, Halloween & Milestones

It seems that Chase's birthday always kicks off the busiest time of the year for us. After Chase's birthday, it was my birthday, Halloween & election day (a GREAT day, by the way!). Soon we have my mom visiting, Callan's 1st birthday party, his actual birthday, Thanksgiving and a trip to Vancouver. It will be Christmas before we know it!

Chase turned 3 on the 18th and we celebrated with all of his friends at a local gymnastics academy. The kids jumped on trampolines, crawled through tunnels and flew on the zip line. Chase requested a Thomas the Train themed party with lots of yellow. We had yellow balloons, yellow napkins & even yellow cupcakes.

The next day we took the boys out to a pumpkin patch in Redmond. It was SO COLD! Surpisingly, a lot of the pumpkins were already picked over. We each picked a pumpkin and then warmed up with some apple cider and kettle corn. A perfect fall day. Halloween was incredible. Chase was totally into the whole thing. The pumpkins, costumes, trick-or-treating, etc. He went as Nemo this year and Callan went as a frog.

Callan got his cast off on November 2nd. Everything looks great, but he still has to wear a splint for another month. It's a bit of a pain, but much better than the cast. That cast was like a club. I can't count how many times each of us was punched accidentally. The splint is much smaller and allows his fingers to be free. He seems to be getting around a little easier than before and loves being able to take a bath with his big brother again.

Yesterday I took Chase to his 3-year appointment. He now weighs 32 lbs and is 37 inches tall. The doctor was really impressed with is language development. He speaks so clearly and really has a funny sense of humor. Right now he his obsessed with rhyming...even if the rhyming words are made up. He loves going to story time at the library and picking out new books to read. He says he's ready to go to school, despite still not being potty trained. We are starting to look at preschools for next fall. But for now, it's nice to have him home.
