It's all about change

It really does feel like we are constantly in a state of change. If we aren't adjusting to something new, we are planning what needs to happen next. Right now our family is dealing with an ill pet, shopping for a new house, planning what to do with our current house and trying to change the family bed time routine.

Our dear Salty Dog has lymphoma. She is on medication, but isn't expected to live much longer. Some days she can barely get up off the floor and other days she seems content, happy & is very mobile. But she hates it when Kelly travels...she misses him so much. She goes to the office with Kelly as much as possible. And a couple of weeks ago we even went on family beach weekend in case it is our last with our sweet doggy.

We decided to move a tiny bit south of Seattle in the next few months. We can get a lot more property for our money and we are in desperate need of more space. The room the boys share isn't even big enough for two twin beds. Plus, we've found that two little boys really do need more room to run around and be silly. The current plan is to keep this house and rent it out...but we are still on the fence. The market is not the greatest for selling right now.

Our biggest thing with the kids right now is SLEEP. Callan is almost 2.5 years old and we are still struggling with sleep issues. He either has a cold or is teething, it seems. But in the past few weeks he has FINALLY started going to sleep for Kelly. This is HUGE. It's allowing me to actually get a break at night and I no longer have to worry about getting home by a certain time at night to put him down. WOOOHOOOO!!

But for me the most exciting thing is Callan's speech therapy. Some of you may know that Callan was "diagnosed" with a speech development issue called verbal apraxia. He has no other developmental issues, but really needs help learning to speak. At 24 months he really only had 10 - 20 words. Now, after only 3 speech therapy sessions, he is probably up to about 30 words and is starting to say small sentences. His confidence is increasing and his frustration is decreasing...which is making the entire family happier. It's wonderful to see him get so excited when his therapist comes to the house. He knows she's there to help him and he just can't wait to get started!

Here are some pictures of our beach trip with Salty and some of our other spring time antics. Hopefully we'll soon be posting a picture of our new home!
