Help! It's cold and we are stuck inside!

On Saturday night we went on the Christmas Ships from downtown Seattle to West Seattle. It was beautiful and so much fun. It was a cold night that ended in snow. It was so wonderful to see the boys so excited about the strange white stuff falling from the sky. By the time we got them to bed the snow was starting to stick. On Sunday morning we woke up to a beautiful, but freezing cold, snowy morning. Kelly took the boys for a walk and they got to enjoy some fun in the snow.

But by Sunday afternoon the snow started to melt a bit. Then the clouds went away. On Monday morning the sun came out and it "warmed up" to around 32 degrees. What does that mean? Ice. Lots of ice. Icicles on the roof (how pretty!) and ice on the roads (oh...not so fun). That also means that the boys and I were pretty much stuck at home until the roads were safer to drive on.

I tried to think of some activities to pass the time.
- We made homemade playdough (blue & yellow).
- We made a "snow fort" in the boys' room.
- We went for a walk outside and collected snow that we'll keep in the freezer until the snow melts outside.
- We started putting our Christmas cards together and putting stickers on the envelopes.

Today we actually ventured out because we were all getting cabin fever. The side roads are still very slick, but the main roads are safe. We played at the community center's indoor play area and also went to a holiday craft event. Chase got to make mini pizzas, a Chinese New Year lantern, a Kwanzaa necklace, a Rudolph magnet, an ornament, a paper & paint menorah and an edible Christmas tree.

We are supposed to get more snow tonight and throughout the week. If the weather forecast is correct we may still have snow on Christmas day!
